Holiday postcard, December 1944. The 714th Railway Operating Battalion was assigned to Alaska in May 1943 from Fort Claiborne, Louisiana. Their mission in Alaska was to oversee the movement of goods from the ports of Seward and Whittier into other regions of Alaska.
