My name is Daria Chicosky. I am doing a project for The National History Day competition. My great-grandfather was a sergeant in this Battallion. I found documents with a lot of information including that he was a Conductor, Railway and the orders for his promotion. He was discharged Sept 9, 1947. His name was Alfred W. Wagner. My project is going to be about the people behind the scenes of the war and how much the war relies on them! My great grandfather dealt with railways, and my dad now deals with fuel lines. This story must be told! I have heard about the book by John Livingston, I'd love to read it, but I need to find it. What I need is information and something real. I'd love a reply and if anyone can lead me anywhere or just tell me anything, my e-mail is dancingagnel363@yahoo.com. please if you have anything to contribute to my work or memories, i'd love to just chat! My great grandfather never spoke of what happened while he was o duty, but I really want to learn and see what he was all about. Thank you.
I have been working on a similar project. Suggest you contact a lady named Marlea Leljedal at the Army Heritage and Education Center @ 717-245-3225. She was very helpful and was able to provide me with a copy of an abbreviated unit history of the 740th written by Captain John Livingstone. The mailing address for her is: U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center 950 Soldiers Drive Carlisle, PA 17013-5021 ATTN: Marlea Le;jedal, Copy Center Operations Clerk
